Trending: Sleeve Attraction
This summer, the focus is on the sleeves in catwalk collections and at Summum.
There is heaps to see and experience. Impressive, fearless, flattering sleeve shapes reign supreme. Sleeves come in various shapes and lengths, with embellishments and accents. At Max Mara, sleeves are long and go well past the wrists with deep slits, like a relaxed cape shape. Alberta Ferretti showed girly sleeves with a small puff on the shoulder for beautiful openwork dresses and wide three-quarter length puff sleeves with elasticated cuffs for jumpsuits in washed cotton – a maximalist gesture. At Summum, ruffles form a cute short sleeve on a printed dress.
Classics are classics for a reason, but many of them have been updated this season with new
silhouettes, contrasting materials and artistic looks. Take a look at Isabel Marant – jackets have extra volume with deep pleats on the shoulders. A wide belt at the waist enhances the shoulder area. A look monochrome finishes it off – chic and simple.
Christian Dior showed delightful ankle-length dresses with cut sleeves. A graceful shape that hides the arm a little (comfortably). This clean cut is a hit for the summer and Summum is going big on it with supple print dresses. There is also a lot of attention for summer black, off-whites and fresh white, with exciting details taking centre stage. A straw sun visor is the must-have accessory, along with a black shoulder bag. Oh, and one more thing: with so much bare skin, your wrist also needs an accent. Choose beaded bracelets in shades that make your skin glow. Wear them tone on tone, in bunches or just on their own to create a very personal finishing touch.
