Support Stand Up for Girls
Summum has lovingly created an extra capsule collection for Orange Babies, specially made for the Stand Up for Girls project. For every item sold from this collection, Summum donates an amount to this project, which supports vulnerable girls in the southern part of Africa by providing education for a better future.
Read more about this unique capsule below in the interview with Summum founder Jorien Wijker, Fiona Hering, Inge Veldt & Beatha Iileka.

Interview
In the Bergen area, the group meets at creative space wHERE to discuss the development of a special capsule collection for Orange Babies. They share their connection through their support for the Stand Up for Girls project.
Fiona Hering explains the important work Orange Babies does in southern Africa. Summum founder Jorien shares how the collection came about thanks to a request from former personal assistant Inge, who is also involved with the project. Beatha, once supported through Stand Up for Girls, tells her personal story.
A powerful conversation about creativity, social engagement, and the importance of education for girls and a better future.
Jorien: “Fiona, how did you get involved with Orange Babies, and what makes the Stand Up for Girls project so meaningful to you?”
Fiona: “I was friends with the founders and heard a heartbreaking story at an early event about a young woman who lost her baby due to a lack of access to medication. I knew I had to help. Now, I proudly see how effectively the money is used. With little, we achieve so much. Stand Up for Girls is essential—girls in Zambia and Namibia deserve basic services, protection, and education.”
Jorien: “Exactly, you need a strong foundation—food, safety, and education—to build a future. What’s normal for us is far from guaranteed for these girls. What you’re doing is truly amazing.”
BIG CHANGE
Jorien to Fiona: "Can you tell us more about the special work you're doing and how Stand Up for Girls is making a difference in the lives of vulnerable girls?"
Fiona: "Orange Babies aims to reduce HIV infections, especially among women and children. With Stand Up for Girls, we support girls in Namibia, Zambia, and South Africa to build a better future. Education is key—girls with an education are 50% less likely to contract HIV. In this region, poor access to healthcare, gender inequality, and sexual violence are major issues. Many girls don’t go to school and suffer from low self-esteem. Our trained teams find them at home, cover school fees and uniforms, offer psychosocial support, and provide two meals a day—because even that can't be taken for granted."

Fiona to Beatha: "Can you share more about your personal experience?"
Beatha: "I’m 25 and grew up in Windhoek, Namibia, with my mother in a poor neighborhood. When things got harder, my mother reached out to Orange Babies. From the age of eight, they sponsored my school fees, uniform, and supplies. Thanks to their support, I finished school with good grades and earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. I was determined to rise above my circumstances and inspire others. At 17, I founded the United Youth Charity Association, which has already supported over 100 young people. Later, I worked for Namibia’s First Lady and even became a board member—something I never dreamed possible. I remain committed to building a better future through my foundation and as an ambassador for various organizations."

PERFECT MATCH
Fiona to Beatha: “You’ve been through hard times. What gave you the strength to keep going and look ahead?”
Beatha: “I have a strong spiritual life. It wasn’t always easy—during my first year at university, I tried to take my own life and was unconscious for three days. After surviving, I made it my mission to help others never feel that hopeless. I now have a community that believes in me, thanks in part to safe spaces like Orange Babies. That motivates me to do the same for others—so they know they’re not alone. Things will get better.”
Fiona to Jorien: “What inspired you to support our project?”
Jorien: “Inge, my former PA who started creative space wHERE, approached me. I was immediately enthusiastic. Inge, would you like to explain how this collaboration came about?”
Inge: “During a world trip with my family, we visited Orange Babies projects in Namibia and Zambia. We even stayed on-site in Zambia. I saw firsthand how needed and effective the work is. When I returned to the Netherlands, the experience stuck with me. With the creation of wHERE, we wanted to support good causes by connecting commercial businesses with social initiatives. Our slogan is: Connect, Inspire, Create. So I thought—why not connect Orange Babies with Summum? I know the founders well and felt it would be a perfect match.”
Jorien: “Your enthusiasm was contagious. I was moved by Orange Babies’ work and thought: we have to do this. Even though creating an extra capsule collection alongside our regular work was a big task, it felt great to contribute financially to such a meaningful cause.”
