What makes us different?
We are all about quality, exceptional fits and apersonal approach. We handle everything involved in the design process – from creating signature prints for our fabrics to drafting patterns and deciding on the finishing touches. We do this with a dedicated team – more affectionately known as the Summum family.Summum is now sold in eighteen countries, but we still do everything (except production) in-house, remaining true to the distinctive personal style Summum has always been known for. Our guiding principles? We only make pieces that we ourselves would enjoy wearing. And we stay in close contact with our makers and suppliers, building long-term relationships to ensure the quality we are committed to.Not only in our collections, but also in terms of sustainability and fair working conditions.
Care to be aware
Want the honest truth? We don’t present ourselves as a sustainable brand. Fashion as an industry largely revolves around consumerism, and launching several collections a year is not the most sustainable thing you can do.That said, we do our best to do our best, so to speak. Step by step.
Care to be Aware – as we like to say. Some good things we can list: the great majority of our clothing is manufactured in Europe under fair working conditions. We have a long-term relationship with most of our manufacturers, in some cases for over 10 years, and we don’t manufacture in countries that the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER) and the trade association for manufacturers and suppliers in the fashion and textile industry Modint have designated as high-risk countries, among other things in the areas of human rights, safety and working conditions.
The fabrics we use are predominantly made in Europe, and we consistently choose the most sustainable options there are: fabrics made with less water and fewer environmentally harmful dyes and chemicals. We do not use any fur or down. And we choose the leather that is sold on the market as a by-product of the meat industry. By using high-quality materials, we try to ensure that our clothing lasts a long time, so that Summum fans can wear our clothing year after year. We also want to prevent overstock through production on demand.
Of course, there is still a lot more we can aimfor. We are aware that this is a process. That is why we remain in dialoguewith various sustainability and fair trade organisations, to see where we canmake a bigger difference and take steps toward a better future
