Actress Sanne Langelaar (40) broke through to the general public with her role in the historical adventure film Michiel de Ruyter (2015), but you may also know her as Iris Praal from the hit series Swanenburg. Sanne lives in Amsterdam with her boyfriend, their two sons and two cats.

‘WEARING THAT OLD SUIT AGAIN?’

'Mummy, you’ve got weird underpants on', said Son 1. I was standing in my corrective skin-coloured thong in front of the bathroom mirror, trying like hell to put on make-up on my face for that evening's premiere. I had exactly 35 minutes left to change and do my hair and make-up. Something I had done so many times on the set of Swanenburg, but then I had a stylist and make-up artist to help me. Moreover, I had resolved to not opt for the safe suit this time, but for a close-fitting dress. And that one could actually use a bit of ironing. 'Mummy has to hurry, honey. Go and play with Daddy', I replied. I grabbed the eyelash curler from his hand and bent forward to put on mascara. Suddenly, I felt two clammy toddler hands on my bottom. Son 2 had also entered the bathroom and was slapping my behind like a dribbling basketball player. 'Mummy fat bottom!’ he shouted happily. I tried to ignore the sweaty moustache on my upper lip and be a little stricter. 'Boys, Mummy wants to be alone for a while. I have to get pretty and put on my dress.' 'You’re leaving?!’ shouted Son 1, startled. 'No dress, no dress!’ cried Son 2.What followed was a messy episode of drying tears, kissing and Son 2 wiping his snotty hands on my dress. Fifteen meagre minutes remained to get ready. Which explains my pride as I managed to finish dressing and doing my make-up just five minutes later. I’d done it. A new record, too. Full of pride, I looked at my boyfriend, ready to receive my compliment. ‘Wearing that old suit again?‘

ON THE TOWN

'This is such a perfect set for a night out with girlfriends. I’ll wear that fabulous, festive blouse on a pair of slightly understated jeans to keep it all a bit casual. Jeans that do fit great of course! You know, one of those pairs that’s nice and comfy, but also shows off your butt just right.'

ON THE SET

'I love bomber jackets. You slip them on easily and the beautiful fabric always makes it look stylish. It’s really such a versatile jacket: I can wear it to work, when I pick up the boys from school and for a night out on the town.

BIKE ON, BIKE OFF

'When I have to cycle from place to place on a busy day, I like to wear something that’s comfortable but also looks stylish. Like these casual jeans, topped with this beautiful gilet, plus a quirky accent like the patent jacket. Considering the rain we have here, the latter is practical, too.'
