PARIS PURPLE
The trend colour for winter is purple, in various shades. Whilst in our first capsule collection for the winter season we added rich deep purple and old lilac to the palette, in this festive capsule we’re focusing on gorgeous violet, complemented by soft greige and moody charcoal.
Summum’s luxurious knits, blouses with bow fastenings and flowing dresses feel extra festive thanks to the use of violet, with a touch of lurex here and there. It’s something about the way the light plays with the colour on satiny fabrics and woolly knits that makes purple so enchanting.
Traditionally, it has been the colour of royalty, reserved for kings and the royal court because of the exorbitant cost of producing the dye, extracted from sea snails – tens of thousands of which were needed just to dye even a humble handkerchief. Purple still has that regal air about it, but who’s going to let that put them off? There’s a shade of purple for everyone. Casual yet sophisticated, an elegant addition to any wardrobe.
