Our love for denim is infinite, because denim never goes out of fashion. Chances are, you have a few favourite denim pieces that you wear time and time again. Denim is also a popular fabric at Summum, where season after season we bring out a mix of tried-and-tested styles in real denim – such as the sequin-embellished gilet – and innovative pieces such as soft, stretchy variants and metallic-coated indigos. We do this under the name Blue Daze. Small tweaks and a fashion-forward eye are the perfect recipe for an up-to-date collection. So we’re kicking off spring 2024 season by introducing some new styles for a little wardrobe refresh.

The shining star of the denim selection for 2024 is fresh, summery, ivory white denim – it’s a truly wonderful colour as it adds a light, positive lift and a sunny glow to any item. Not too sweet all round, as that tough, slightly raw denim character remains. There are skirts and gilets reminiscent of the ‘80s, though of course you’d style them so they’re right on trend. Last season’s cargo styles are back again. And how? If you hadn’t yet fallen in love with trousers with extra pockets, you’ll surely fall in love with a denim cargo now. You’ll see how versatile is combined with other pieces, how it contrasts with sweet embroidery or a lace blouse and heels, and how cool it is as a basic combined with a t-shirt and trainers. If your lifestyle means you need more of an office look, a tidy jacket with a fitted silhouette and eye-catching puff sleeves is your best friend: over a pair of those trendy cargo trousers or with flowy trousers and a tank top made from satin-like fabric. Both are fine, but the effect is the same: you mean business.

1. FRESH IVORY

Another denim favourite is ivory denim. It’s just as easy to combine as your trusty blue jeans or white blouse. Think of ivory denim as a basic that gives your outfit a little more light and a touch of spring, with the toughness of the sturdy fabric still reminiscent of rebellious blue. The ivory denim gilet – sleeveless is a thing this spring – is boxy and has a cropped fit. It looks a little late ‘80s, as does the skirt made from the same material: long, straight, clean, with a high front slit and a raw frayed edge along the bottom. It’s a beautiful ensemble, but you’ll be in business with the individual pieces as well. Bring it into the present with a pair of large yet simple bangles and sleek mules in the same colour.

2. NATURAL CARGO

Go cargo, this time made from 100% natural cotton and linen in a beautiful, versatile shade of blue that you’ll keep on coming back to. If your trousers are old and tired from lots of wear, simply unscrew and recycle the special screw-on buttons. The trousers have a loose, casual fit and can be styled in lots of different ways. Full length, stacked over trainers or rolled up with heels or sandals... With a chic shirt or satin top, a basic t-shirt or soft, fluffy spring knit... With a belt or satin scarf through the trouser loops... Or just as they are. Or how about with a tidy jacket? Smart, yet a little funky for the office.

3. STRIPED CARGO

Cargo: as you’ve seen already, it’s a mega trend this spring. What’s the hype all about? First of all, the loose, comfortable fit. It’s casual and baggy. Secondly, the utilitarian vibe. The large pockets on the leg mean you’re ready for action: pen, card and keys in your pockets and you’re off ! These are trousers you can work, walk and live in. Not too precious, fine for every day, but enough sparkle for a stylish dinner party combined with a pair of heels and a delicate blouse. Summum presents the cargo trousers with a special mini stripe, in a very light, comfortable, smooth denim fabric. Nice and airy for spring, and great with loosely rolled up legs and sandals.
